Popmusic is timeless, I think this is proven by now. About thirty years ago you sometimes could hear people say that classical music was forever but that popmusic would be forgotten in twenty-five years or so. I don't suppose there's anyone who dares to say this nowadays because popmusic has been around for more then fourty years and it is here to stay. There are plenty of songs from the early years of popmusic which are still popular. Of course popmusic develops and every year will see a new sort of popmusic. But it will not be renewed completely and many new bands go back to the music of several decennia ago. Dead Meadow have not reinvented music, but their lovely guitar rock gives me a wonderful feeling.
Dead Meadow is orginally from Washington DC, but they have moved to Los Angeles. At the moment the band consists of Jason Simon (guitar, vocals), Steve Kille (bass, sitar) and Stephen McCarty (drums) and this month they have released their sixth album and it's title is "Old Growth". After "Shivering King and Others" from 2003 and "Feathers" from 2005 this is the third release with Matador Records. At the end of this month Dead Meadow will come to Europe for about thirty shows and they will be performing in cities like Amsterdam, Groningen, Utrecht, Brussel and Antwerpen.
