The Cuties

CutiesI'll start with a very short review of the Neil Young show I saw last night: it was fantastic!
As a Dutch indieblogger I don't pay a lot of attention to Dutch bands. This is probably due to the fact that I don't come across a lot of Dutch independent on my searches on the internet. I find more than enough foreign, mainly American and Swedish bands however. But on the rare moment that I find a nice Dutch indieband, I do have to write about them. This means I also have to write a post about The Cuties. With a lot of pleasure... I can start this review with a lot of clichés about girl bands. Fact is however that Maaike, Wendy, Anne and Alicia make very nice, perky pop music and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The Cuties is one of the most appropriate band names I saw in a long time and the title of their debut album is also very fitting to their music. The CD is called "Ah-Ah-Aah" and this is the sound the background choir makes on a lot of songs. This beautiful album has been released on Living Room Records several weeks ago. The music reminds me of other girl bands like The Softies, Tiger Trap and of course Dolly Mixture. Cheery bubblegum pop about everyday subject like clothes, icecream and boys.
