I have reorganized the contents of Heet Stof today. You'll find the posts of the lasts months of both my English as Dutch indieblog in 'Archive'. I have also removed my non-music comments called 'Even wat anders'. It was my second attempt to write about something else than music and now I know that that's not my thing. From now on I concentrate on the search for and writing about nice new music. Today I have Chris Walla for you.
I think Portland, Oregon has a very lively music scene because I read the name of this city very often in bios of bands and Chris Walla also lives there. You could know him as the guitarist and producer of Death Cab for Cutie, one of the most popular indie bands from the last years. He's also the producer of a great number of bands like The Thermals, The Velvet Teen, The Decemberists and Tegan and Sara.
He has recorded some solo work under the name Martin Youth Auxiliary but this songs were just some sketches. Between all his other duties he has recorded a number of new songs and to distance himself from this work he asked producer Warne Livesey (who is known from Midnight Oil and The The) to produce them. "Field Manual", the first solo album from Chris Walla will be released at the end of ths month at Barsuk Records. The few examples I've heard until now sound vert promising.
