Cryptacize

cryptacizeOf course the life of a pop musician is a lot more uncertain than from someone with a nine to five job. And a lot less monotonous, I suppose. But a musician and certainly a unknown indie musician never knows if he/she will have any work next month. If I look at ‘upcoming shows’ on the website of these kind of bands, I usually don't see four or five shows a week. Often they only have a few shows a month. Maybe that's one of the reasons why a lot of independent musicians are working on more than one project. As a solo musicians and as a member of a band, for instance. This is also the case with the two original members of Cryptacize. Maybe you know Chris Cohen from  Deerhoof and now from The Curtains. His girlfriend Nedelle Torrisi is a little bit famous as a solo-artist. Cryptacize started as a duo and was founded in the apartment of Chris and Nedelle across the street from the C&H sugar factory in Crockett, California. Maybe it was a fluke that the saw this video of a cow bell playing Michael Carreira on You Tube and they asked him to play the drums. The impressive, rather minimalistic and slow music of Cryptacize will be released on the CD “Dig That Treasure” in a few weeks. You can find them at Asthmatic Kitty Records
