Alana Amram & the Rough Gems

Alana

There aren't many kinds of music I do not like and that's why I can write about a band like Autistici one time and about for instance Mouse Fire or Hello, Blue Roses the other time. I don't write about heavy metal or something like that, but that's because I don't listen to it. When I was younger I never listened to country & western. The only thing that came close were The Eagles (on their first albums). And I also like Emmylou Harris' contribution on "Desire" from Bob Dylan. Nowadays I listen to C&W, Americana and other kinds of American folk music a lot and that's why I had to write about Alana Amram.

Alana is from a very musical family from  Brooklyn, New York and she met a lot of American celebrities like Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson through her father, composer, writer and poet David Amram. But she doesn't restrain herself because she often shares the stage with hardrock and  indiebands. Now she has made a first EP with her band The Rough Gems, and this record  called "Alana Amram & the Rough Gems" has been released on Zealous Records. Beautiful country folk, that's all I can say about it and that should be enough.
