The musicians and bands I write about in both weblogs are unknown and they have just released a new CD or some new MP3s or they are about to release a new CD. Usually I have heard several songs from the album so my comment is based on some facts. But sometimes it's hard to find information about these bands or their music because these bands are unknown. It's a lot harder to write something about them and that's what seemed to be te problem with Bear in Heaven from Brooklyn, New York. Fortunately I could find some more about this band after some googling and that's why today's post is about Bear in Heaven.
It has all started in 1998 as a solo project from Jon Philpot from Atlanta and that's how he debuted in 2004 with the album "Tunes Next Door to Songs" which was released at Eastern Developments. Since those days Jon has moved to Brooklyn and Bear in Heaven has developed into a real band with Jon Philpot, Joe Stickney, Adam Wills and Sadek Bazaraa. This is the line-up in which they recorded their new CD "Red Bloom of the Bloom" which will be released at Hometapes this month. I have heard (parts of) four of the seven songs and I'm starting to get used to the music. The music of Bear in Heaven is very remarkable, exciting and filled with strange twists. You can hear this yourself when you listen to the first track which can be downloaded at the bottom of this post. But you can also watch and hear the video from the final track "For Beauty" which can be found on the MySpace-page and this shows that this bands has a lot of fantasy. The video is a recording of an acoustic version of this song and it's recorded live in a car in the streets of New York City.
