Plajia

Plajia

Music can effect your mood. I think even more than a movie, a novel or a painting. Somebody who's very sad wouldn't get happy suddenly when hearing a song and someone who's happy wouldn't burst into tears after listening to a song. But listening to a certain kind of music can influence the way you feel. Yesterday I was pointed to the Canadian band Plajia and when I listened to their music I felt warm.

Patrick Pleau (vocals, guitars, piano & keyboards, harmonica), Bryan Ortiz (bass guitar, backing vocals) and JF Lefoll (drums & percussion, backing vocals) are from Montreal and they formed Plajia (pronounce as 'plah-gee-ah') in 2001. The band has just released their debut album "Beautiful Explosion". The piano plays an important musical role on most songs on this album, but I'm glad they didn't forget the guitar. Just listen to the first song below. If you want to hear something with a completely different atmosphere you need to listen to "Sleeping" on MySpace. This song is absolutely beautiful, but there are more wonderful songs on this album and I couldn't resist going to ITunes to buy it. Plajia is a band to keep in sight.
