If you write a piece about an unknown group or musician almost daily like me, it's unavoidable that you'll repeat yourself. It's possible that I've just an intro before and it's absolutley not strange that I'll be writing about the same band for the second or even third time. I'll only do this when this band has released something new. Like has happened with Golden Bear.
I've already written about this band from Austin, Texas in the old version of Heet Stof / Hot Stof. Golden Bear is formed by six men who all have nicknames: Fatso, Heartbreaker, Onions, Hippo, Grizzle and Kullen. I'm sorry I couldn't find any good pictures on which there were six guys, so the picture I've added isn't the whole band. When I wrote about Golden Bear fifteen months ago, they had just released their self-titled debut album and now there's album number two "To the Farthest Star", also released on C-Side Records. The songs on this new CD are very similar to the songs on the first album. It's still cheerful pop/rock with some Americana influences and now and then some nice vocal harmonies like you can hear on both free downloadable tracks.
