Mike Uva and Hook Boy

I started this weblog to share the fantastic music I sometimes find on the internet with others. This is still the main reason for writing a new post several times a week. An additional reason however is to give those unknown bands some more attention and hopefully a little fame. The same goes for the small labels which are brave enough to release the music from those bands. This are most of the times local labels and they are often run by the musicians. Mike Uva runs the day-to-day operations at the offices of the label Collectible Escalators from Cleveland, Ohio.
Every few years Mike Uva finds the time to write and record the songs for an album. His first CD "Hook Boy" was a CD-R which was made in 2001 and which is sold-out by now. This CD was followed by "Where Have You Been" in 2004. Some of the songs from his first  album were re-recorded by Mike Uva and his band Hook Boy and have been released on his new album "Static Songs". The two songs which you can download under this text are clearly products from a band, but on his MySpace-page you can find some examples from the earlier albums and on this songs you can hear the singer/songwriter Uva like "English Garden". Both kind of songs are worth listening to.
