The Bell

TheBell
Regular visitors of my blog on the old spot know that there is pretty good (indie) music made in Scandinavia and especially in Sweden. About 15 percent of the bands I've reviewed till now are from Sweden. That's not a bad score for a country with 'just' 9 million inhabitants. It is possible that there are also some other smaller countries where there are such a large number of great bands, but I haven't found them yet. There are also some  weblog which only write about Swedish indie music. Just look to Swedesplease and Hello Surprise (although this last one isn't updated that much anymore). And you'll also find Swedish bands on my blog from time to time and The Bell is another one.

Nicklas Nilsson, Jan Petterson and Mathias Stromberg, three guys from Sweden. The Bell has at least one thing in common with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, the band I have written about yesterday. They also use a drum machine. This is not the only reason why they are being compared with Echo & the Bunnymen, but also with The House of Love and The Church. The music of The Bell is very clearly influenced by these bands from the eighties and nineties.

"Make Some Quiet" is the title of the debut album from the band and this CD was released by Badman Recording. I have already heard five tracks from this album and I would like to hear the rest.
