The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

Autumn has started and the timing is perfect because I've got autumn holiday. I've got a lot more time and that's why this blog looks different. It's still (a little bit) under construction, which means that the layout could change a bit during the next few days. I would like to make the home page of the Dutch page but I haven't discovered how this van be done in Sandvox. I'll probably will in a while.

Of course I can spend some more time searching nice music during such a week off. This morning I stumbled upon the New York threesome with the name The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

Their latest self-titled EP was released about a month ago, but I still want to  point them out to you. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart consists of Alex Naidus (bass),  Kip Berman (guitar, vocals) and Peggy Wang (keyboard, vocals). No drummer as you can see, they use a drum machine. You could say that this is a weakness, but Echo & the Bunnymen also started like this. The music of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart can be best described as guitar rock and shoegaze. Or like they write themselves 'dreamy, noisy POP with boy/girl vocals, blissful melodies and blistering mechanical drums'. POP with capitals.
