Besides his work with Create (!) and I Heart Lung (see yesterday) Chris Schlarb also does somethings on his own. First this was just solo guitar music which was manipulated with a taperecorder. This so called 'anti-guitar guitar music' was produced onder the name Xn. Chris Schlarb makes his latest solo work under his first name for the first time. This project started on a cloudy day in Februari 2003 when he set up two microphones to record the sound of the rain outside his Long Beach apartment. This idea expanded into a four year project, a collaboration with dozens of musicians and more than two hunderd hours of recordings. The final result is the CD "Twilight & Ghost Stories", a composition of 40 minutes which is made up out of a lot of pieces of music which were recorded by a great number of musicians like Sufjan Stevens, Ray Raposa (from Castanets), Mick Rossi (from the Philip Glass Ensemble), Liz Janes, Dave Easley and Sebastian Krueger. Chris Schlarb mixed these pieces of music with recordings of his children playing and the heartbeat of his son in the womb. Very atmospheric ambient music! The album is released by Asthmatic Kitty Records.
