I find a very difficult to remember names of bands since I search the internet for new bands on an almost daily base. This has nothing to do with getting older, but with the fact that I sometimes hear twenty-five new bands or musicians a week. Most of them don't reach my indieblog and I have no reason to remember their namesw. But I even can't remember all the bands I do write about. I'm also not always sure if I have written about a certain band or not. That's what happened when I discovered the band Downliners Sekt last weekend.
This wasn't that strange. There was a Brittish band called Downliners Sect in the sixties and I know this band from the box "Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts from the British Empire and Beyond" on which they have two songs. Now there is Downliners Sekt, a completely different band with a completely different kind of music. The band was founded in 2003 and the first year they locked themselves away in the Pyrenees Moutains to work on their music. In January 2006 they released their debut album "Statement of Purpose" and almost 18 months later "Still Engine Mixtape" was released, a collection of new and old songs from Downliners Sekt and some befriended bands. "The Saltire Wave" is the second studio album from Dowliners Sekt and it was released two weeks ago. This album also contains instrumental triphop-postrock music.
A quote from this European band: 'We bored as fuck with the music industry. We give our music away. We aim to share not only the music but the whole experience.' This means that you can download all three albums from the band's website for free.>mp3: Scope Creep
