I've written about my preference for bands with just two or three musicians several times now. I have liked this kind of bands for a long time but especially since I've seen the 2005 reunion of Cream on the BBC. Usually the original band who do such a reunion show are complemented with a large number of studio musicians, because they want to sound as good as possible. But not Cream Bij and the sound which was made by Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce still sounded pure and perfect. Three is enough. I've also proved that in my last posts about The Whigs, Dead Meadows en Headlights. And Dragged By Horses, today's band is also a threesome.
Chris Jaster, Jody Goldman and Pablo Midence are from the remote town of Arcata in Northern California. They released a selftitled EP in 2005 and now they have finished their first full-length album "Deep In The Woods" and this CD will be released by High Wheel Records in March. The straight forward guitar rock of Dragged By Horses is obviously also influenced by heavy metal and often vocalist Pablo does more screaming than singing. But they don't have to worry about troubles with the neighbours when you live a five hours drive from the next urban center. Not that their music is so terrible, Dragged By Horses sounds very interesting. Fierce and interesting.>mp3: One Way Ticket to Rome
