Singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer and some nice songs. That's all you need for a rockband. But less is also possible because I've already written several times about the trios who manage fine. And you can even make fine music with just two musicians, like has been proven by The White Stripes, The Like Young, Matt and Kim, The Harvey Girls and more excellent rockduo's. Like Eux Autres.
This duo from Portland, Oregon is formed by Heather and Nicolas Larimer, drummer and guitarist, sister and brother. Eux Autres makes crispy, short popsongs and because there are just two of them their songs aren't filled with all kinds of instruments. Their first release was the EP "Patrick Nil" in 2003. "Hell Is Eux Autres" was their first longplayer in 2004 and it was followed by the Christmas-EP "Another Christmas at Home" in 2006. Three weeks before Christmas this year Eux Autres will release their second album "Cold City" at Happy Happy Birthday To Me, a very nice label from Athens, Georgia. Listen to the two beautiful songs below. "When I'm Up" from the new CD is a perfect song to get up by in the morning and the second song is from the first album.
