Ex-Boyfriends

Ex-Boy by Geof Teague

Today is the last day of my Christmas vacation. A 'vacation' which was a week longer for me, because I was home with the flu the first week. To be honest, I've just felt allright since New Year's Eve. Except for a coughing fit now and then. I haven't been able to do a lot during this three weeks off. I laid in bed till nine and during the day I also spent some hours reading on my couch. I've read a lot, that's for sure. I had planned to find some bands to write about the next weeks, but I didn't feel good enough to spend a lot of time online. One of the few bands I discovered is Ex-Boyfriends.

This trio from San Francisco exists since 2003 and the three members are Colin Daly (vocals, guitar), Chris Ohnesorge (drums, vocals) and Peter Harb (bass, vocals). If you have read my blog before, you might know that I have a preference for small bands. The music from a duo or trio often sounds better and with more power than the music of larger bands and I usually like it a lot better. Ex-Boyfriends have proved it once again.

In February 2006 wthey released their debut album "Dear John" and a month ago their second album "In With" was released at Absolutely Kosher Records. You can buy this album with three different covers, one for every member of Ex-Boyfriends. A nice idea although I don't like the result that much. But the music sounds very nice. Beautiful  powerpop.
