It's not always easy to write an almost daily piece about indie music. Sometimes I just can't find any pretty music and sometimes it's hard to come up with an introduction. I think it's boring when I only write about music and that's why I want to start my post with a foreword about myself or about (indie) music in general. I did find the pretty music today and the introduction... well you're reading it now. This music is from Lisle Mitnik alias Fireflies.
This Lisle is a very creative man. So he makes music under the name Fireflies, but you can find a lot of different artistic stuff in his portfolio on his personal website. Lisle comes from New England, has lived in California for a while and has moved to Chicago now. That's where he writes his beautiful songs and where he records them using his laptop as recording studio. According to the website of Fireflies he has released three discs, but Lisle still calls "Goodnight Stars, Goodnight Moon" his debut album. This CD will be released on Lavender and Music Is My Girlfriend on December 1st. This are two Swedish labels and I think this is very appropiate because the music I've heard on MySpace, sounds more like Swedish indie music than like American. I don't like Christmas songs and Christmas is not my favourite holiday, but the music of Fireflies is perfect for that time of the year.
