Jim Noir

JimNoir1 I love the real sixties sound from band like The Kinks, The Zombies and of course The Beatles. You don't hear that sound anymore because the modern sound equipment is to accurate and perfect. You can't get this sound from a CD or from a MP3. Maybe there aren't a lot of composers who can write these kind of songs and record them with that particular sound. That's what I thought. But when I heard Jim Noir for the first time, I knew I had been wrong.
Jim Noir real name is Alan Roberts and he's from  Manchester, Engeland. He's one of those multi-instrumentalists who play all instruments themselvers and record his songs in his living room. He released his first album "Tower of Love" on his own My Dad Recordings, but nine months later it was re-released by Barsuk Records. His second album, simply called "Jim Noir" has also been released on that label. The music of Jim Noir sounds like Pink Floyd when they made "See Emily Play" and "Arnold Lane", but if you listen to "All Right", you also hear that he's not afraid of electronics and of course this song sounds a little different. But songs like "The Truth" and the fantastic  "Look What You've Done To Her" are the real prove of his talent. I can only find these beautiful songs on MySpace and I haven't discovered if they are released on CD or as digital download. This is a shame, but both songs below are also worth listening to.
