Every boy or girl will at least at one time have a dream about getting famous as a popstar or athlete. For most of them it will stay a dream, but of course there are some who work very hard to make this dream come true. I'm not interested in sports, also when I was young. I was (and still am) however very interested in music. Not as a musician, but as a listener and since almost two years as a writer about music. I do admire young people who are able to make this dream reality. This means I also admire jongere droomt er wel eens van om beroemd Please Quiet Ourselves.
This band from Berkeley, California has started to make this dream come true on a very early moment in life because most of the members aren't sixteen years old yet. Please Quiet Ourselves is formed by a changing number of teenagers like Jojo Brandel, Eli Lyons, Haran Stern, Adam Becker, Max Burstein, Maddie Tien and Simeon Farwell-Miller with some help from Will Fraker and Bryce Enright. It has started when Jojo was making a soundtrack for a filmproject on highschool and he asked some friends to help him. The ended up in a recording studio and the recording they made reached the owner of Mushpot Records. The result is the selftitled debut album from Please Quiet Ourselves which is filled with very surprising songs. On the single "Color Chart", the song with which it all started, you can hear that the acoustic guitar is very important in their music. But the album also contains some nice rocksongs and the beginning of "Minors vs Majors" reminds me of The Shadows (yes, what you read is true). But actually almost all of the songs contain one or more nice surpises. This really is one of the most outstanding albums of 2007.
