Yesterday I wrote that the number of new bands with new albums is increasing again. There are those periodes each year when there aren't hardly any new releases, but there are plenty of new releases in the spring. I would rather write about bands from some less accepted countries or cities, but that's not always possible. It even looks like I'm always writing about American bands and less about bands from Scandinavia or other parts of Europe. But it's a coincidence that's today's band is a trio from Seatlle, Washington again. This band is called Pleasureboaters.
Ricky Claudon (vocals/guitar),
Erik Baldwin (bass) and
Tim Cady (drums) are from the suburbs of Seattle and they met when they were kids. This was a lot of years before they started making music together. Some three years ago it finally happened and thier debut album "
¡Gross!" was released on
Don't Stop Believin' Records. The music of
Pleasureboaters is a lot less psychedelic than the music of The Pharmacy from the same city and label. On
MySpace they call it 'Trash/Trash' and this isn't far from the truth. Heavy with a lot of screaming. Even on the record and this usually means that it's even a lot louder live.
Pleasureboaters don't make music to wake up with, but it is the kind of music you can stay awake with.
