Poets to their Beloved

I suppose that every musician has been influenced (more or less) by one or more other musicians. You don't invent your music completely from scratch. You'll take this influence (deliberate or not) with you when you make your own music. The band I reviewed yesterday is a perfect example. You can also choose to learn from your favourite musician. That's what the Dutch Saskia Dommisse and the German Marcel Schiborr four years ago. Independent from each other they both went to Ireland for a percussion workshop by Brendan Fraser (from Dead Can Dance). Their encounter was the start of their collaboration as Poets to their Beloved. This collaboration started when Marcel send the song 'Love' to Saskia. She send this song back with lyrics and vocals. They first performed together in 2005 and their first songs appeared on MySpace in 2006. Their debutalbum "Embrace the Fool" is finished this autumn and is released by the Portugese label Equilibrium Music. Poets to their Beloved consists further of Sjanneke van Herpen, Ramona Wandollski and Michael Braun
It's not so hard to described the music of Poets to their Beloved because they have listened to their teacher or they have learned a lot from him. Very atmospheric and filmic neo-folk with beautiful vocals, percussion and string instruments. For the fans of Dead Can Dance.
