Pomegranates

Maintaining a blog is rather a lot of work. Writing five posts of 200 to 250 words on average a week takes more time than you might think. But before you can start writing, you'll have to find a subject and for me this means searching for unknown new and independent bands or musicians. Every week I visit a lot of websites of indie labels and I listen to the new upcoming releases. Sometimes you can listen to the whole album and sometimes you can only hear a few songs. I write a post about the best and most interesting bands. On the website of Lujo Records I found the band Pomegranates last weekend and this post is about them.

Pomegranates are from Cincinnati, Ohio. Drummer Jacob Merritt and guitarist Isaac Karns had been friends for a while when they decided to make music together. After a short time they asked singer/guitarist/keyboard player Joey Cook to join and they recorded their first song “Nursery Magic” in November 2006. Four months later they recorded the five songs for their debut EP "Two Eyes". By now the band is increased with bass player Josh Kufeldt and soon their first full-length CD "Everything Is Alive" will be released. According themselves Pomegranates makes experimental pop music and this is a unusual combination. You can decide for yourself if they are right...
