Before I started this indieblog, I already searched the internet for new, unknown music for some years. With the songs I downloaded then I made my own collection CDs. I made almost eighty CDRs with great indie music that way. This CD production has nearly stopped completely since I started Heet Stof. Nowadays I put the best songs of the reviewed bands on my iPod. But this week I have made two CDR's because I wanted to hear this music also in my car and on the stereo in my living room. They're no collection CDs; the first one is from Michael Bach (look at my last review) and the second from The December Sound.
I also have written about The December Sound before, in October 2006 to be exact. This foursome from Boston and New York is formed by frontman Zack Sarzana plus Drew Richards, Jimmy Rossi and Cat Crowley and they produce excellent psychedelic shoegaze. Last week I received an e-mail from Zack with the question if I was interested to review their self-titled debut album. I didn't have to think long about this question because I remembered The December Sound very well although I hear dozens of new bands and music each month. The song "Kill Me (Before I Kill You)" from the EP "Kill Me" is one of the best songs from last year. This song can also be found on "The December Sound" and it isn't even the best track. Other fantastic songs are for instance "Never", "No Heaven Like Hell", "Painkiller" and "Il Forte".
This guitar noise can't be compaired with the songs of Michael Bach, but they have both given me a great time and beautiful additions to my collection.
