The Gutter Twins

Gutter1 With Heet Stof I'm trying to give new and unknown bands a virtual stage. That's why few people will be familiar with the bands and musicians I wrtite about. They might be a little known in their hometown and also with a few indie lovers who visit this and other similar indieblogs regularly. Today however I want to write about a new band of which both members are a lot more famous. I mean Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli, formerly the frontmen of respectively Screaming Trees and the Afghan Whigs, two of the best alt-rock bands from the last decade of the last century.
Lanegan and Dulli have been working together several times, but now the finally made an album together under the name The Gutter Twins. With "Saturnalia" 'The satanic Everly Brothers' as Dulli describes this collaboration, have produced a mystical and dark but beautiful album. This is no suprise when two musicians of this caliber join together. The third member of the twins is Mathias Schneeberger who has also worked on several songs by The Twilight Singers, Dulli's other band. The Gutter Twins have released an album with a very distinct mood (look at the beautiful cover photograph) and Sub Pop Records has put out another obvious winner. The track below is a clear prove and if you're not convinced you can go to the MySpace-page of The Gutter Twins.
