Every week I hear a lot of new songs by unknown bands and to be honest, it has some disadvantages. It's rare that I recognise one of these new songs or even bands. And I can't remember any of the names or titles because of the great number of new bands. That's why I often have to check if I have written about a certain band before. It has also happended that I'm writting a post about a band or CD and I suddenly realise that I have written about them before. But now I have checked it and I have never written about The Mission District before.
It's a young band from Montreal, Canada and I suppose they have chosen their band name after a district of San Francisco. The Mission District consists of David Rancourt (vocals), Travis Barfoot (guitar), Antoine Rochette (bass), Rob Rousseau (guitar), Evan Clarke (keyboards) and Mike Hand (drums). They produce lovely fast guitarpop, exactly the kind of music I like the best. They debuted with a self-titled Ep in 2005 and now they have released their first full-length "Youth Games". You'll hear a Canadian band which makes a kind of Britpop on the songs below and on the page of The Mission District with YouTube you can watch some nice videos.
