Ulaan Khol

SRSmith Most bands and musicians will do anything to get a little fame. This means that they have to stand out between all the other hundreds or thousands of bands who want the same thing. You'll choose a notable name, you'll make attractive songs with beautiful titles and lyrics and you'll package the CD in an astounding cover. But there are also musicians who don't care about these things at all. Steven R. Smith from Los Angeles is one of these musicians. He makes music under his own name, but also under the names Ulaan Khol, Hala Strana, Thuja and Mirza.
With his most recent project Ulaan Khol Steven R. Smith plans to release the three part suite "Ceremony" in the next months or years. The first part, entitled "I" has just been released on CD by Soft Abuse and "II" has already been announced for later this year. The first CD of "Ceremony" contains 9 tracks and everyone of them is named "untitled". The psychedelic instrumental guitar music of Ulaan Khol is probably not interesting for everyone, but fans of ambient, postrock or spacerock should definitely listen to this music.
